The core of our strategy

Intergas is on an ongoing journey to create a positive impact on our planet and society by leading the way with innovative products, responsible processes, and inspired people. In fact, the success story of Intergas starts with the introduction of the most sustainable heating boiler in the Netherlands, with the super energy efficient double heat exchanger back in 1996. As sustainability is in the core of our company’s strategy, Intergas plays an active role in Rheem’s global sustainability program, the Greater Degree of Good.

Towards a just heating transition

Climate change is real and happening. The heating sector is a significant contributor to Europe’s energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with over 36% of the total emissions on the European continent. Therefore, decarbonizing this sector is central to achieving the EU’s energy and climate objectives.

As a market leader with innovative solutions, we are actively committed to achieving the European climate goals. We envision a future in which all building owners and residents in Europe will phase out their fossil fuel consumption for heating in a realistic and affordable way.

Four sustainability pillars

To build further on the fundaments of energy efficient heating systems, Intergas has defined four strategic sustainability focus areas: reducing GHG emissions, improving circularity, driving a sustainable value chain, and empowering its people.

To reduce GHG emissions, Intergas is transitioning its product portfolio toward smart, energy-efficient hydronic heating and hot water systems powered by renewable energy, while also making its operations more sustainable through efficient energy use and renewable sources. The company actively supports policy development by sharing knowledge and field test results to promote effective decarbonization.

In improving circularity, Intergas integrates sustainability into every phase of product design, emphasizing durability, reusability, and recyclability, and promotes circular business models like the Boomerang Take-back Program. Operationally, it aims to minimize waste and enhance waste stream segregation.

 

To drive a sustainable value chain, Intergas collaborates with suppliers and customers to reduce emissions, increase recycled content, and close material loops, while also addressing the sector’s skills gap by training installers to support the adoption of sustainable heating systems.
